The Boom Buddy Summer Playlist

We asked our Boom Buddy families to share a song that brings back holiday memories or a tune that's the first thing to go on at the family BBQ or is always top of the summer roadtrip playlist! Here's what they said with links (working at the time of posting!) so you can enjoy them too!
The Adamson Family
It has always been a family favourite, which usually ends up with someone pretending to surf on the ironing board! I've no idea how it started, but has become a family tradition, one I can't wait to introduce Lucy to!
The Barratt Family
This is our go-to summer song and it instantly makes us feel ready for all things summer, sunshine and days at the beach. Me and Rose especially like having a dance to this even when it’s raining outside!
The Collis/Murray Family
There's a huge range of music played in the Collis/Murray household so picking one song was tricky. There were contenders from Queen, Katy Perry, Clara Nunes and The Temptations but we've chosen I Like to Move It as it always boosts our mood and energy levels on summer adventures.
The Hilltop Family
We love listening to the dance remix version and dancing around the kitchen to it!
The Korneluk Family
We used to listen to a happy playlist when I was pregnant on car journeys and, whenever this came on, Florence used to wriggle around so much in my tummy! This song will forever be in our hearts. Both our dads are big music fans too so we grew up listening to the Beatles.
The Lee Family
Horribly catchy and always gets us moving our feet (and the rest of us too!). We find the beat infectious and always end up shouting along (no musical talent needed). A proper summer bop!
The McKenzie Family
It’s a great kids’ disco song and the girls love dancing to it. We’ve enjoyed having a kitchen disco to practice our moves ready for our next holiday!
The P Family
Mr P and I have completely different taste in music so we don't really have it on generally, other than nursery rhymes or story songs now. However, Summer is one that stands out for us (and one that Mr P can tolerate) as it came out the summer we first met and got together. When we shared it with Little P recently, she enjoyed pointing her fingers up in the air along to it.
The Shawver Family
We're big country music lovers, especially as Jay is from the USA and grew up with it and played in country bands. We love this song for its summery upbeat, foot-tapping tune and the meaning in the lyrics. It's definitely a top choice on our summer country playlist!
The Watson-Pick Family
This is definitely our favourite summer tune! It's a classic song that has the nostalgic vibes that we love, having been raised in the 90s. The kids love it too with its catchy chorus and it's always a hit at our family BBQs!
Heather's Family
This song reminds us of our American road trip from Seattle to San Francisco and as soon as the sun's out, this is the track we put on. Loud. Beach vibes, regardless of how far away we are in Derbyshire!
Steph's Family
A very un-summery song but one filled with holiday memories. The girls are firmly in their Frozen era and, on our recent holiday to Costa Rica, they reenacted this song, loudly, dramatically, everywhere! By the pool, down supermarket aisles, at the beach, in the jungle...
